VIDEO : Wizkid Shade Naira Marley and Zlatan Ibile

Incase you don’t know, Wizkid recently signed a deal as the new brand ambassador of United Bank for Africa (UBA).

The superstar singer was among the many prominent people who gathered for the 2019 Tony Elumelu Foundation Forum at UBA Marketplace, Transcorp Hilton.

Wizkid during his speech at the event tagged  “Afro Pop meets High Finance.” revealed that he made just N250 thousand as his first major money from music.

In his speech, he also talked about being a role model to his fans and according to him, he wants to be the kind of person that leads by example. He said to the guests:

“I wouldn’t want to be that kind of perosn, I feel like the kind of person I would want to be is to lead by example.

All I can do for myself is to continue to be successful and touch many lives that I can. And I hope that every kid out there looks at this and emulate that and also want to be brave.

When I started music, I made just N250k and now we are talking about big numbers here. Just so you know, that you are not going to change anything by singing about yahoo yahoo.”

He also expressed enthusiasm on his new deal with UBA which he said is “the biggest deal for Africa” and said that he hopes that this will solve some of the problems encountered in the entertainment industry.

“It’s not enough to play a song insulting the government. We all have a role to play,” he notably said.

It is noteworthy that singers, Naira Marley and Zlatan Ibile were recently in trouble with the law after they were arrested in connection to cybercrime better known as yahoo yahoo by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Some days later, Zlatan Ibile was released on bail while Naira Marley spent a little over a month in custody. The duo also has a song together titled, “Am I A Yahoo Boy” while Marley is known for his controversial support of cybercriminal known as yahoo boys on social media.
