Ronaldo ranks third highest goalscorers over Messi in football history

Ronaldo Messi

A recent analysis has placed Portugal and Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo third in the list of top goal scorers of all times

According to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics, IFFHS, the analysis reveals that in football history, the former Manchester United forward might not be the outright all-time top goalscorer.

In Juventus’ 2-0 Italian Super Cup win last month, Ronaldo, 36, scored his record-breaking 760th goal against Napoli, placing him ahead of the Slavia Prague hero, Josef Bican.

And the Czech FA claimed that Bican’s record had not been broken by the Portuguese, saying “Josef Bican scored 821 goals in official matches.”

Brazilian legend, Pele also said that, with Brazilian club Santos repeating his bold declaration, he scored over 1,000 goals.

Data on the world’s all-time record goalscoring rankings has now been published by IFFHS.

It claimed that when his goals for the national team were eliminated, Ronaldo was named the third most prolific goalscorer.

This suggests that the 36-year-old is short of matching the highest goalscorer with 28 goals.

IFFHS called Brazilian legend Romario top of the pile, claiming 689 goals were scored by the former PSV Eindhoven star.

Pele, with the IFFHS saying that the Santos legend has a 684-goal haul to his credit, is falling five goals short of Romario.

Bican finished fourth with 656 goals and Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi was ranked fifth with 651 goals.
